The Town Office which is conveniently located on 169 Route 1, overlooks the Millpond and Millpond Dam.

Town Office Hours:     M 8-6 W-F 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.   Inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances the office will be closed – call ahead 733-2027.


Selectmen’s Meeting Second Monday of Month at 6:00 p.m. ———- If Monday is a holiday, the meeting will be on second Wednesday of the month.

Planning Board will meet last Monday of the month at 6:00 pm

Submit applications no later than a week before the meeting

Whiting Trash Collection Information – Trash collection is provided by the town though tax-payer dollars each Thursday unless that is a holiday, then it is on the proceeding Wednesday. It is curbside pick-up for Whiting residents only and should be regular household waste as the contract states. This does not include demolition debris or metal. Cardboard should be broken down. The town pays for the collection and the tipping fees at the landfill. If you have questions about collection of certain items, please call the town office.

Whiting is located in Washington County, Maine. Settled in 1785 and incorporated in 1825 we are spread over 52 square miles. Our town enjoys the beauty of Indian, Orange, Rocky, Roaring and part of Gardner Lake. The Town Office which is conveniently located on 169 US Route 1, overlooks the Millpond and Millpond Dam.

Located nearby the office is the Union Meeting House which is used by the school and can be used for meetings, funerals & weddings on the same basis as the Community Center. Please contact the Town Office for details and scheduling.

 We have an active historical society which plans some annual community events. There is an historic photo album available for viewing at the Town Office. Sets of note cards depicting historic images of the town are also available at a cost of  $10.00 for twelve cards and envelopes.
